My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NAME: Swiss (m)

BREED: Chihuahua cross

AGE: almost 5 months

WEIGHT: 11 pounds

LIKES: Running around in the back yard with other pups, belly rubs, hard chew toys, snuggling, and digging in blankets to hide his toys.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: Swiss is reserved and a little anxious at first meeting, though he is extremely affectionate after you earn his trust.

POTTY TRAINING STATUS: Yes- outside and potty pad trained in his foster home. If there are potty pads down, he's using them, otherwise just saying “potty” and taking him outside is good, which reinforces a skill he is mastering each day.

CRATE TRAINING STATUS: Not thrilled about being in a crate alone and will let you hear about it. He does better if he's with another pup to keep him company.

EXTRAS/MISC.: Needs a little leash training. Swiss can walk on leash, but he freezes if startled and digs all 4 into the ground. More time and patient practice will give him confidence and help reinforce this important skill. Swiss is a Velcro dog. If you've earned his trust he needs to know where you are all of the time and has no concept of personal space. This cutie likes other dogs, and is curious about cats. He is untested with young children.

Additional adoption info

The process for adoption through our rescue begins with the adoption application. Once accepted, a meet and greet with the dogs is arranged and includes everyone in the family including other pets. If the dog seems like a good fit, he/she is brought to the home where the dog will be living to make sure it is an appropriate home....ie. dog friendly, fenced yard, etc. Finally, an adoption agreement is signed to insure that the adopter understands what is expected of them.

Go meet their pets

All our dogs are in foster homes prior to finding their forever homes. Please contact us if you see a dog you'd like to meet. We also participate in adoption events at local pet stores.
