My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A volunteer writes:
Brazil, Argentina and their five babes came to the Manhattan Care Center as their owners were evicted. Brazil was beside himself and even was trying to flee. Too many changes for a little seven pounds young guy...Brazil has calmed down since his arrival but has remained very shy. He is not really in 100% hiding anymore and ventures on his balcony or the back of his cubby. He nibbles on some treats, blinks back at me  while I blink at him and whisper encouraging words. I dare my hand toward him and pet his head and cheek. I can not say that he is leaning or purring but at least, he is not attempting to escape or pushing me away. Argentina who just looks like him is a scaredy-kitty too. She got very sick with a cold  but is on the mend. The babies are nursed by staff as they are still so young. The little family went through a lot and needs to see the end of the tunnel in a home sweet home and with experienced adopters.

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

Brazil tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
