Hello, my name is Sanford! I captured the heart of a volunteer who says I'm more than just a handsome face and that I deserve a second chance with a really special family. I used to have a home, but I couldn't stay there anymore. I miss having a family. So, my friend at the shelter helped me in her truck to go on a play date. I did my best to be the perfect co-pilot. I stayed in my own seat and helped her look both ways at stop signs. When we got there, she said I made her very proud because even though I was nervous for a minute, I warmed up really quick and I made a lot of new friends. I met other boy dogs and girl dogs and even a tiny human who fed me his cookies! It was awesome, and everyone said I was really gentle. I was so sleepy on the ride back to my kennel that I fell asleep smiling with my head in her hand as she scratched my chin. She was so sad putting me back in my kennel, but I just thanked her for my fun day out with a little kiss and promised her I would keep being brave. She promised to tell you all my story and said she'd see me again real soon.
If you might be my special forever family, it would make us both so happy, but I guess there are some important things you might want to know about me. First, you should know that I really like toys and I miss playing with them. If I could have a few at home, I'd really like that. I think kitties are cool, but they don't really like me chasing them so I probably wouldn't be a very good roommate for them. I'm about 2 and half years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. I like to take walks to stay in shape. If you're into labels, they say I'm an Am Staff/Boxer Mix, but I identify as a Carolina Couch Potato. I'm heartworm positive, but they told me that's treatable and my friends at the shelter can tell you about the options. Most importantly, daily snuggles and/or belly rubs are a necessity. I hope you ask about meeting me, and I can have another fun day out soon!
