Simone and Suni came in together, as we think they could be litter mates, but not sure on that! But even if they are not true sisters, they sure act like they are - they LOVE to run and play together:) Simone is very sweet once she gets to know you. And gorgeous - those eyes!!! She will melt your heart. Simone loves her pup cups, and is kid tested and grampa tested! She can be very calm and loving to older folks, but also appropriate to younger folks! She's just a fabulous dog!

1.
Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Find pets online or in person. We do encourage meet and greets with our pets to see how they fit into your lifestyle.

2.
Submit Application

We also require a vet reference if you have a current one, and 2 personal references, with names and phone numbers to call.

3.
Approve Application

If references check out, you will be approved for adoption.

4.
Take the Pet Home

We have a 2-week trial visit for dogs. We hold your paperwork/adoption fee and you take the dog up to 2 weeks to get to know each other.

5.
Sign Adoption Contract

At any point during the trial visit time, we will final the adoption only after you let us know that "he or she is ours"!

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees for animals at the shelter are $100 for a cat and start at $150 for a dog. This fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and distemper shots, worming, flea preventative, heartworm testing for dogs and Feline Leukemia/FIV testing for cats. Please fill out our Adoption Questionnaire to request an appointment to meet our pets.

We are a volunteer run program, so our animals can have visitors by appointment only, although we will do all we can to work around your schedule.

More about this shelter

We are a 501(c)(3) animal shelter in Greene County, Iowa. We are a dedicated group of people who have a strong passion for animals and animal rights. We have a foster care program for dogs and cats, as well as a great group of volunteers who help out with all we do.
