Blackavar, or "Blackie" is a gentle soul with a heart as warm as his fur is dark. He had a rough start to his life and was found abandoned and had multiple healed injuries when he came to ORCA. Blackie had pretty significant ear damage and damage to his nose as well. He was named after a character in the beloved book Watership Down who is also described as having tattered ears. He had a rough beginning, but this sweet bunny has not let that dim his inner light. Blackie is the epitome of calm and sweetness. He is a curious bunny who likes to free roam and check out various spots in the house. He loves hay, lettuce and herbs, and the occasional treat hidden in cups or under play mats. He is good with his litterbox and is not a voracious chewer and avoids spicy hay! He does not enjoy being picked up, but he does like lots of gentle pets. He currently lives with cats and dogs and is good with both, although he does not really understand the concept of "personal space" from the dog. He would do well with children. While he may look rough around the edges, this bunny has a heart of gold.
We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don’t see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!
Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.
