My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

He’s a calm, cuddly, cutie!

Hey, there! I’m Frederick, an 11-month-old snuggle bug… I mean, Spaniel mix! I’m still just a little guy at 18.5 pounds, and while I’m happy and healthy, I’m on a journey to discover the big world out there. My start wasn’t the easiest; I came from a hoarding situation in National City with a bunch of other dogs. That’s left me a bit nervous around new dogs and people, but I’ve been making big strides with my foster family!

I’m a quiet, calm boy who’s all about the belly rubs. Seriously, I’ll take a belly rub over a treat any day! I’m smart too, following my foster mom from room to room, curious about everything she’s doing. I get along well with her little dog, who mostly ignores me, which is just my speed right now. New dogs and people can be a bit scary for me, so I’d be happiest in a calm, quiet home where I can be the only dog.

I’m still a bit scared to be outside, but I’m getting better! I’ve got the pee pad routine down and will even walk around the house on a leash with my foster mom. I don’t have any separation anxiety, which is great news. What I really need is a patient, loving home where I can feel safe and start to come out of my shell even more. I’d love a backyard where I can explore at my own pace and get more comfortable with the outdoors.

All in all, I’m a sweet little cuddle bug who’s just starting to show my playful side. I’d do best in a home without kids, though older teens might be okay if they’re calm and understanding. I’m looking for someone who can give me the time and love I need to truly blossom. I may be a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you, I’ll be your loyal, loving companion.

My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
