My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Elizabeth, Your Royal Companion!

Greetings, commoners—er, I mean, future family! My name is Elizabeth, and while I may not have a crown (yet), I'm ready to bring a little royal charm to your life. At just 1 year old and 19 pounds, I’m a petite spaniel mix with a sweet disposition and a heart full of potential. My early days were spent in less-than-royal conditions—I was rescued from a hoarding situation in National City. But don’t worry, I’ve left those dark days behind and am now eager to find my castle.

I might be a bit shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience and time, I’ll be curtsying at your feet. I get along famously with other dogs after a proper introduction. In fact, I really do best with another furry friend by my side! They help me feel safe and confident. I also love plush toys more than the Queen loves her tea!

I’m 99% potty trained and can use a dog door like the lady I am. Sometimes I forget my manners and have a little accident on the rug, but I’m working on it! Crates aren’t exactly my favorite, but I’ll tolerate them if I must. I’m also practicing my leash skills—though I must admit, I prefer a gentle stroll to any kind of lengthy parade.

I’m a low-maintenance gal who doesn’t require hours of exercise. I’m more than happy with a cozy spot by your side, ready to accept belly rubs and treats. No separation anxiety here—I’m perfectly content ruling my kingdom while you’re away!

Why adopt me? Well, I’m sweet, gentle, and ready to be your loyal companion. I’d do best in a home with another dog to help me feel safe and confident, but with time and a bit of patience, I promise to be the best little queen you could ever ask for. So, what do you say? Ready to let a little royalty into your life?

My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
