Baby is a 27 year old female Congo African Grey parrot who lived with one family for her entire life.
Baby takes her time to build trust with new people, but she is an easy-going and funny bird once she settles in. She makes a wide variety of household noises such as beeps and ringing, as well as saying a few phrases. She also won’t hesitate to make a raspberry if you offer her food she doesn’t like.
Baby eats well and is learning to eat a diet more appropriate for parrots. Her previous family fed her mostly from what they were eating, as well as seeds. Baby loves a variety of vegetables. She is learning to eat a healthy pellet diet and is doing really well with the transition. Baby should probably remain in her cage during family meals because she will not hesitate to fly onto the table and steal your food, especially pizza!
Baby enjoys time out of her cage and exploring the house. She won’t step up from her cage yet, but enjoys gentle head scratches. She also LOVES her toys, especially anything cardboard.
Baby does currently display some hormonal behaviors, with her foster mom especially. She is responding well to ignoring the hormonal behaviors and her diet adjustments should help as well. Her forever family should be ready to continue working on reducing the hormonal behavior.
This laid-back funny bird would be a great addition to a bird-savvy family.
Baby has been disease-tested for Psittacosis, PBFD and Pachecos.
