My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All alone on the streets of Memphis, probably since birth, until she was 7 months. Now she is with a great foster family and lots of other dogs but big and small. Her foster Dad said she is so loving and is going to be a wonderful family member.

She is lucky in that she wandered into the yard of a woman who reached out for help. Even though she couldn't bring her inside, because she had dogs of her own, she asked on FB for someone to come pick her up. Her new fosters saw the post and sent someone to get her.

When she was picked up and brought into rescue, (8/16), she was brought directly to the vet. Her diagnosis of Demodex mange was not surprising, treatment was started ASAP. Otherwise she was healthy.

She's a happy puppy, she is not super shy, walks up to people with her tail wagging, and is just delightful. She has all the puppy energy her foster mom says she is all legs and clumsy... In the nicest of ways of course!!

She is crate trained and will sleep in her crate all night. She plays great with all the other dogs in her foster home. She can be a little rowdy but once that wears off its nap time.

If you think this girl has already stolen your heart, don't wait apply now!!!!!

The adoption fee also includes the transport fee.

ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.

PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours at a time until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so important in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?

Please consider purchasing this book before adopting.  Perfect Puppy in 7 Days - How to Start Your Puppy Off Right, Sophia Yin, DVM - it is an amazing book that we recommend very highly and have had amazing feedback on.

More about this rescue

PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.

Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
