Meet George, a 3-year-old tabby with a curious spirit and a mind of his own. Brought to the shelter as a stray, George has quickly made it clear that he's an independent guy who loves to explore. Whether he's checking out new spaces or playing a game of "catch me if you can," George keeps himself busy and entertained. While he enjoys a good cuddle and doesn't mind being picked up, George prefers to do things on his own terms. On picture day, he thought it would be fun to play "hide and seek" and he had a fun tour of the shelter while we merrily followed him around. He is happy and likely will make you happy too!

George's playful personality and happy demeanor are sure to bring joy to any home. If you're looking for a cat with character, George is your guy!

George is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.
Stop by when we're open to meet and adopt! This week, we are open Tuesday - Friday, 11am to 6pm.

Our adoption process is very simple. We do not hold animals, they are available to the first-come, first-serve qualified individual or family.

Adoption fees vary from $25-$500, with adoption specials lowering those fees at times by up to half.

We accept cash or credit.

All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Go meet their pets

Meet our pets in the shelter Monday through Friday by appointment only, 10 am until 6 pm. Closed on Saturdays and Sundays due to low-staffing.

More about this shelter

West Valley Humane Society is an open-admission animal shelter in Southern Idaho. Serving all of Canyon County, and surrounding areas. We take in the stray, surrendered, abandoned, neglected animals in our community. In 2017, we took in 7,778 animals. We believe that every animal deserves a second chance.

We contract with the cities of Nampa, Caldwell and Canyon County to house stray and owner surrender animals that their ACO's, or the general public, bring to us.
