My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Houska may not have the braids like you would expect from a typical Houska loaf, but she will dazzle your taste buds with her large and delightful personality. She packs a lot of spunk and sass in her little loaf. We would say she is the leader of the pack. Houska is polite and can hold her own with her siblings. She was bold, brave and respectful when meeting the adult foster home dogs. She has a rising and sassy personality that will steal your heart. She found that her favorite toy was a "discovered block of wood from the fire pit. Her favorite game is to play keep away with the block or any other toy that causes the others to chase her. Houska is smart too. She figured out if she lingers back when it is time to kennel up that she will get picked up and snuggled all the way back - I mean who could resist all those kisses!! Schedule an appointment to come and get your very best lil Houska loaf ever! She and her siblings have had exposure to and respect adult dogs, senior dogs, and horses. They've been practicing with a doggy door and working on their potty training. They would benefit from more leash practice and exciting excursions. They have all done well in and are quiet when crated. All pups have adjusted to indoors and furniture climbing. They do still need to work on their manners in the kitchen though. Being such large babies, the kitchen counter is easily accessible on 2 legs. They've been learning what "down" means too. They're great couch potatoes after they get their energy run out.

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
