My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who loves a good Hoagie? I'm pretty sure everyone! And this boy will not disappoint. When it comes to snuggles and following his people - he's the one! He's grown up with 5 sisters so he's realized too much estrogen is not always a good thing. Which is why we believe he really enjoys some peace and quiet - away from all the girls, if you know what I mean. Hoagie is curious about exploring but always very happy to make eye contact and be involved in what the people are doing. He enjoys going on walks and playing with the other dogs - old and young but at the end of the day he looks for a nice "perch" to lay on and relax while observing things or if you're ready for a big floppy lap pup, he's the one! Hoagie also loves water - splashing in the kiddie pool and the most adorable dig- splashing it out of the drinking bowl. Schedule and appointment and come get your very best Hoagie ever! Hoagie and all his sisters have had exposure to and respect adult dogs, senior dogs, and horses. They've been practicing with a doggy door and working on their potty training. They would benefit from more leash practice and exciting excursions. They have all done well in and are quiet when crated. All pups have adjusted to indoors and furniture climbing. They do still need to work on their manners in the kitchen though. Being such large babies, the kitchen counter is easily accessible on 2 legs. They've been learning what "down" means too. They're great couch potatoes after they get their energy run out.

Weekend Host provided the following feedback: "Hoagies favorite activities are lounging on the couch, snacking, and going on leisurely walks." "He does great in the crate, however he does prefer a nice place to stretch out his long legs. " "He knows to stand by the door when he has to use the bathroom." "Hoagie was briefly introduced to some small dogs and young children while on the leash and he was very gentle." "Hoagie is good on walks. He doesn't pull all that much, but sometimes he likes to take his time to stand and sniff!"

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
