Meet Cali!

Estimated to be around 4 years old, Cali was surrendered to HSoP when her owner was moving and couldn't bring Cali along. Upon intake at the shelter, Cali was... well.. let's just say she wasn't happy. If you've ever heard of torti-tude (tortoiseshell attitude), this girl has it! She was very resistant to our staff touching or examining her, and vaccines were a huge challenge. Just like a lot of torties though, Cali is an absolute delight when she's in a good mood.

Cali surprised us on day two. What was a hissing and striking spitfire just the night before was now a relaxed and flirty cat just waiting to be loved on. She was meowing, rubbing herself against the bars, and truly asking to be pet. As it turns out, Cali is a lap cat and loves to sit right on her human friends to be the center of attention. We imagine that Cali would thrive with an owner who can respect her boundaries. When Cali wants affection, she makes it clear. When Cali doesn't want affection, she also makes that clear.

Having the freedom to come and go as she pleases will be great for Cali, and will help her build trust with her future owner. Cali did not live with any other pets in her previous home, so we aren't sure how she would react to a dog or cat in her future home. We do offer a seven-day foster period with each adoption, which helps to ensure a good fit for the whole family.

Stop by HSoP between 2-6pm Monday through Saturday (dog kennels close at 5pm) to meet Cali and all our other adoptable cats! She will be spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines by the time she goes home.
