Playful!
MEET Willy!
This playful beagle (and basset hound?) mix guy is estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old and weighs 35 lbs. He was surrendered to a shelter from a home where he, another adult dog and their six unplanned puppies were living. All eight dogs were sent to rescue due to their age and/or condition (which has since been resolved with proper medical care.)
Willy spent time in a foster home where he was great with the resident cat and dog. He is a big fan of toys and playing! He also loves the cushy bed his foster mom gave him. He is nearly house broken and just like any toddler, only has accidents because he’s so excited playing that he forgets to let his person know it is time to go outside.
Willy was recently selected to go to the extensive Ridgeside K9 board and train program to expand his obedience skill set. Unfortunately, while there, the stress of being asked to be crate trained manifested in GI troubles. Therefore his training is being cut short and the focus is on his well-being.
Prior to going to training his foster mom had this to say about her spunky little charge: “Willy is very silly and loves to run and steal toys from his foster dog sister but what he loves more is playing with his foster kitty sister. Lounging on the couch with both is a close second.
Willy also enjoys going to the dog park, running with his pals and rolling in the grass. He enjoys riding in a car where there is so much to see out the window! He would be a great addition to any home as he does well with cats, other dogs and people.” Although, we'd recommend Willy be in a home with children age 8 or older.
Willy is a super friendly, fun dog in an medium-sized package. He will be a wonderful pet in a home where the adopters will have patience with him as he continues to learn and will provide obedience training to help him along the way. Hound experience is preferred, as he sings the song of his people (in other words, he is vocal and can be a little stubborn.) Finally, Willy’s new home should be one that won’t require him to be crated due to his stress when he is.
Willy’s adoption donation fee is $400, which includes his neuter, routine vetting and his microchip. You can apply for Willy by filling out our online application at
