HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is currently spending time in a foster home. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please contact ARL-Adoption@arl-iowa.org.
---
- A calm lady who will come up to you for pets and attention; will even approach people she doesn't know for love
- Does well in her crate and will settle easily, also enjoys sleeping in a chair at night
- Has been doing well with potty training in her foster home, just remember any dog may take time to adjust to a new schedule
- Is still a little nervous about everyday things like walking on a leash, hardwood floors and going through doorways, but is making great progress in her foster home and just needs a patient family to help her continue to gain confidence!
- Likes playing outside with other dogs in her foster home, may benefit from a dog friend in her new home to help show her the ropes
- Came from a situation where they did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age. Because of this, they may struggle with new situations, may show uncertainty with novel everyday objects, may need help understanding leashes, and will need patience and structure with housetraining.
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
