My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hank, a 1 year old mixed breed stray bursting with charm and curiosity. Friendly, adaptable, and tolerant of handling, he's an ideal companion for any family. Despite some challenges, he's been soft and sociable with staff, eagerly allowing handling and leaning into pets. As a young and enthusiastic dog full of energy, he's ready for an active lifestyle with his forever family. However, due to his energetic nature, he's not recommended for children under 5. With a clean bill of health and a heart full of love, Hank is ready to embark on new adventures with his forever family!

My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: When we first met Hank, we couldn't help but to point out how cute he is, and how much smaller he is in person than he looks in pictures. We learned quickly that Hank has the softest head, with ears like velvet, and he loves pets, giving small kisses, and a snuggle to thank you for attention. Like any young dog, he was excited to go on an adventure and pulled a bit on his leash to try to move us along faster. However, after we walked a bit, he settled down nicely. We put him on a long line and he walked ahead of us comfortably, but never strayed too far. He always checked back to make sure we were near. We learned that Hank loves the water! He opted to take a run through the stream, hopping the whole way to show his excitement at being able to cool off. We could tell he really loves people, and wanted to say hi to everyone we met. He was eager to please, and would show us his commands for a treat and some pets. Hank showed interest in all the woodland creatures we passed, but never chased, only wanting to watch and sniff. We ended our day with lots of pets, and a pup cup. Hank would be the perfect dog for someone who is active (maybe a hiker? Or a runner?) he calmed down once he was able to expend a bit of energy, and then just wanted to be close by, whether that was resting or climbing over some rocks. He really is a special dog, and whoever adopts him is going to be very lucky!

Another Boroughbreaker writes:
I love Hank. Hank had pretty much the same level of energy all 5 hours we were out, which is to say a lot. He's remarkably creative - he sees piles of leaves as gifts for him to roll around in and any wayward stick on the path is calling his name to be carried in good fun. I really love how he'll be in the middle of somethign and be very focused then throw hiimself into the grass to roll around in. He loves to go and do and he loves to learn. He's eager to show that he knows sit and did it regularly. Then he has an idea that he can hop like a bunny or roll around in the grass and get tangled up in his leash but he does all these things with this good natured insistence and hope you'll join him. Hank could work on some leash manners, but he's a sweet, loving, and very good natured dog.
