Theo is soon to be "paw-roled" from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with two inmate trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered.
Theo is a handsome boy with a heart as big as his blockhead. This boy absolutely adores people. We'd even venture to say he's a bit of a ladies man. His favorite thing is to lean in for pets and rubs. He's happy to go on long walks, or just take a stroll around the neighborhood. He does well with small dogs and children. He's learning to play with dogs closer to his size, but is content with just sharing space with other low-key canine buddies. Though he's perhaps too interested in cats, he's otherwise proven to be a pretty mellow dude who just wants to stretch his legs with his person or people, then crash out on the couch for major cuddles. This gentle giant is ready to melt your hearts with the gentle pitter patter of his front paws when he's happy to see you.
