My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

✨ Paquita ✨
😎 Breed: lab/corgi/chihuahua (we are guessing!) Recommend DNA testing
🐶 Age 4 years
🌍 Location: Lake Tahoe NV
💙 Female
💾 Microchipped
📏 Size: Medium
⚖️ Weight: 32 lbs

💃Energy: Playful
🐶Dog Friends: Yes, but she she very insecure at the beginning. She needs time to adapt
👧🏽 Children Friends: Yes – but hasn’t had a life around children, we prefer a young couple or solo for Paquita, because of her shyness and insecure behavior
⛓Leash etiquette: Not secure

🥘 Resource guarding: Happily shares toys but with food, she is always on the watch if a dog comes near her plate but she allows you near her food.

She is very obedient when spoken to, but she runs into her place where she feels secure .

📣 Bark/noisy: Will bark when someone comes to house and sometimes when she is excited to see people she knows
She is not good meeting new dogs but once she does, she is very playful
🏡 Housebroken: Yes
⛓ Leash etiquette: No !
🚙 Good in car: Yes, calm in the car

TEMPERAMENT
Paquita is an incredibly sweet and loving girl who adores playing, chasing a ball or stick or running around with other dogs when she knows the pack.
She is most of the time in her hut, secure place.
At the foster home she lives inside and outside.

📚RESCUE STORY
We found Paquita chained with a 70 year old lady. She had severe skin problems and had an injury in her leg .
She was found looking for food in the trash. She is in a foster home at the moment looking for her family.

She would suit active people / needs couple or people with friendly, approachable dogs who will allow her to accept them when she is ready / she needs a lot of affection but once she decides you are OK, she is the absolute most loving, sweet and grateful dog.
She is very special and we need special people for her! Is it you?

Note from her foster: Paquita entered my heart before I even met her from the videos of her rescue and rehabilitation. Paquita has a presence and a knowledge--she is deep, you can tell. She had a very rough start, yet she is still open to new things, new people, new places. There is a joy in her that she is ready to give to others. I'm madly in love with her; she will go to the best possible home.

Their adoption process

1.

Interview

We vet all people fully by phone.

2.

Submit Application

We require the application and a video of the home, yard, places the dog will be.

3.

Meet the Pet

We meet with the people at my home (typically). See how the pet responds to them.

4.

Home Check

Rather than do home checks, we have you take a video of your home and yard.

5.

Take the Pet Home

We REQUIRE frequent updates, photos and videos. We create a WhatsApp group, making it easy to share with our staff in Lake Tahoe and Cancun.

Additional adoption info

We require feedback after the adoption. We always want to know the dog is in the BEST place. If it doesn't work out, we require the dog come back to us.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

We meet by appointment only. We bring four dogs at a time and find homes as quickly as we can. We typically meet in Incline Village but sometimes we might meet somewhere else (half way or at the adopters home, for example).

More about this rescue

LOS PERROS PERDIDOS Foundation partners with our sister rescue in Mexico, PAWS IN ACTION CANCUN.

We are determined to save as many broken, abused, abandoned and neglected street and shelter dogs in Mexico as we can.

Motivated by a deep love of our 4-legged friends, our mandate is to save and improve as many lives as possible.

We have seen many tragedies and have witnessed the most horrible cruelties, but we know that by working together we can make a significant difference.

Raising awareness of the importance of spaying and neutering our furry friends and through the love and support of our wonderful volunteers, supporters and adopters, our hope is to rescue, heal and successfully rehome as many of these deserving souls as possible.

With your help, we can do this!
