Meet Copper! He is an 8 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 35 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Copper is fearful of strangers! He hasn’t been tested around children. He is good with other dogs! No cats, due to his reactivity.
Copper bit the owner’s friend in 2022. He has stranger danger and the owner has worked with trainers. Once Copper warms up to you, he does well. He just take a while to warm up to strangers. He is currently on a trial for Sertaline, a medication for his anxiety when he is left alone at home. The owner is surrendering him because they are expecting a baby and won’t be able to provide the time and attention that he needs. He needs to go by 8/31!
If you think you can provide a great home for Copper, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Copper.

More about this rescue
Nancy Gonzalez, founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the educated adoption and rescue of the Australian Shepherd (Aussie) dog breed.
In July of 2012, ASF initiated as a Facebook page hoping to have 1,000 user "likes" by the end one year. The page quickly outgrew expectations, now with a network of nearly 82,000 individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.
Using the Facebook page as a platform, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed as an additional resource aimed at educating the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed. It provides resources for those seeking help, or those willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save, Foster (ASF) philosophy. Through this philosophy, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs and helped to provide assistance to those that have nowhere else to turn.
We as humans have a responsibility to speak up and take action in favor of those beings that are less fortunate. Thanks to a team of passionate and proactive volunteers, Aussies nationwide are given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Furever.
