My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Alfalfa is a 7-year-old Lab Chow mix weighing around 80lbs, who is neutered and fully house-trained and has perfect indoor manners. He is super-sweet - he loves to cuddle on the couch and adores being brushed. Alfalfa checks all the boxes for a carefree buddy - he is quiet in the home, isn’t destructive, doesn’t jump on people or counters, doesn’t beg for food and doesn’t have separation anxiety.  Alfalfa knows basic commands like sit, wait and come.

He spends most of his day lounging around the house, but is also a great adventure buddy. Alfalfa's favorite activity is hiking and exploring outside on all the great trails in and around the Asheville area. And he’s very social! He does great with all other dogs - he loves to play at the dog park and doesn’t have leash reactivity. He’s friendly to all people and pups.

Alfalfa is in excellent health with no medical issues, and is up to date on all vaccinations. In the 2.5 years that we’ve had him, he has not had a single accident inside. He’s also got a super sturdy stomach (not sensitive to new foods or treats).

He would do well in a range of homes though he would prefer an active household. We think he would love other dog siblings. He is quite reactive to cats, so wouldn't do well in a house with them.

Our work travel schedule has made it difficult to ensure Alfalfa gets all the care and love he deserves, and we want to find a new home for Alfalfa where he'll be comfortable and well taken care of.

Please contact Jordan via email at jordan.t.janes@gmail.com or by phone at 512-785-0144 to learn more or set up a meet and greet with Alfalfa.

All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.

Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
