Rusty is an 10-12 year-old, 12-pound male Chihuahua mix from Texas, and he’s a sweet soul who’s adjusted wonderfully to his time in the East Village. Rusty enjoys exploring, cuddling, and playing with other dogs. His gentle nature would make him a great fit in almost any quiet, gentle home.
Rusty is doing well with learning "come" and is working on other obedience training. He seems mostly housetrained but may need more frequent walks unless he’s wearing a bellyband. Rusty does well on a leash, walking calmly and taking care of his business easily outside. His forever family will need to continue reinforcing the progress he’s made.
Rusty prefers to approach people on his own and is sensitive to touch, especially when hands are reached out for him to sniff. He would thrive in a calm environment where his boundaries are respected.
He sleeps well in the kitchen with his dog siblings and loves to be cozy with his foster family, often snuggling up with his mushroom toy. Rusty is content as a solo dog or as part of a multi-pet household and would do best with older children in a low-key, loving family.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
To apply for Rusty, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.
Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.
