My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Sammy, formerly Marshmallow @ FWACC, is an absolute joy to have in our home. (For reference, we have 2 resident dogs, 1 other foster pup, and 2 precious kiddos.) Sammy was in a dire situation at the shelter and was a code red dog that was out of time. Due to a very generous lady who chose to sponsor him, he was pulled from the shelter with a temporary foster where he was brought back from the brink of death. He had a URI that turned into pneumonia, but the sweetest people came together to make sure he got all of the vet care and love he needed to pull through. Everyone who met him realized how special he was, fell in love with him, and did everything possible to get him healthy. He is now doing fantastic and is ready for his forever family.

Sammy is full of life and loves to love. He gets a long with pups all shapes and sizes and he ADORES children. He craves love and is a world class cuddler.

We thought he was going to be on the smaller size but we were wrong! He has shocked us all by a 25 pound weight gain in 6 weeks! He is currently 61 pounds and looking amazing. He is estimated to be around 1 year old. He is completely potty trained and we’re working on leash training. He is a QUICK STUDY and eager to please that is highly food motivated, which makes training a breeze. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this beautiful boy winning first place in a doggy obstacle course! He loves to learn!

If you’re looking for a companion ready for an adventure, you’ve found your boy! He loves car rides and ALL people. He’s just a ball of sunshine and joy!

OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN TEXAS OR COLORADO BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information.

All of our dogs are located in a foster home in Texas or Colorado. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Mutts N Such direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).

Our out of state adoption fee is $350 plus transport (varies by location). This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, a registered microchip, fecal analysis, spay/neuter for pets 6 months & older, and a heartworm test if over 6 months old. All dogs will be current on flea/heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of departure.

Additional adoption info

The initial phase of our adoption protocol involves prospective adopters completing an adoption application.

Following submission, our administrative team conducts a thorough review, and if approved, the application is then forwarded to the animal's foster.

Subsequently, a phone interview is scheduled to address follow-up queries, provide additional information about the pet, and acquaint the adopter with our organization. If the interview is successful, arrangements are made for a meet and greet, along with a home visit. For pets adopted out of state, the meet and greet and home visit are conducted virtually.

The final steps in our adoption process include verification of identification, finalization of the adoption contract, and payment of the adoption fee.
