Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3
Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com
***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation***
Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues.
WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.
We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA.
Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal.
We had one of our people reach out to us in CO about a breeder who we had saved a sweetheart Scottie girl from previously who was being sold off to be used as a breeding machine & the breeder was not factual about this poor girl. But once we knew she was back at it again posting dogs she wanted gone we knew we had to help. Little did we know she had Berry & wanted her gone too. She was an after thought. Of course they always want money for the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. These innocent souls lives was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. Berry was one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued a total of 5 lives & Berry being one of these souls.
Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Berry how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as they are in their foster home.
Berry & her friends were flown back to the WA state where she is now so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home.
The state Berry was picked up in was absolutely devastating & so sad. She & everyone were so filthy, they stunk so badly & was so very skinny. It appeared she had been just living in a cage outside. That was her whole life prior to us. We could tell she was not being fed well either because she would try to eat her poop. We had to teach her everything about being in a home & she has flourished now. She is the sweetest girl. So very easy going & a free spirit. She deserves to be so very loved. She has mastered wooden stairs & can go up & down them no worries.
She loves both her foster mum & dad.
She now knows what toys are & loves playing with her toys. She has been learning to go potty on material potty pads. She is not too fond of being outside for too long.
She absolutely loves her foster siblings. She adores all ages of dogs no matter what size or age. She is very playful & will try to get any size dog to play with her. When we first got her we had to teach her to be in a loving home with dogs & be with them in a normal environment.
She enjoys wearing a good outfit as we have put jumpers on her.
She is extremely sweet but is very loving & a very cuddly little lady. She really enjoys snuggling with you & we know she adores being picked up & held & carried around to see what is going on. At first she had no idea what it was to be held & loved but now she gets ready to stand up & receive love & gets ready for her foster mum to pick her up.
The reality is, the foster homes are her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over her head that’s not outside.
Berry is a wonderful eater & we know that she is obsessed with food with the amount of weight she has put on in her loving foster home with the good nutrition she is getting. She eats a clean diet meaning, raw fruits, vegetables, grains & proteins & is on supplements. She gets bully sticks & collagen sticks & loves them. Well she is absolutely obsessed with them.
She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not get to experience ever until he was rescued. She absolutely loves to sleep in the bed with you too & be apart of what you are doing. She will want to sleep with you or on a pile of fluffy blankets or dog bed with het friends.
She is such a sweetheart who just wants to be loved & to make up for her past. She loves everyone & is so very sweet. She is accepting with being bathed & groomed & tolerates the hairdryer.
She would still need to be taught to walk on a harness & leash.
Berry loves going in the car & just looks around & takes it all in. The only times we know of was when she went to be sold & when we got her & going home & to & from the vets with us & her loving foster home. But she does absolutely amazing in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Berry as you can imagine spent the first part of her life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Berry where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them.
Berry is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her.
Berry has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & she is currently in a loving foster home. She will be found snuggled up with her dog friends. She absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home for her to thrive in. She needs a very snuggly dog in the home for her to play with. She is good with puppies & if they annoy her or get too unruly she will let them know. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard.
Berry is roughly 21.6 lbs & she is 6 months old & a whoodle. She has put on a lot of weight since being in the rescue in her foster home. What she is mixed with we are not sure. From the breeder she told us she is a wheaton terrier & poodle. Female, she is spayed by laser & was treated for an ear infection. She is microchipped, up to date on her shots, including DHPP, bordatella, rabies & dewormed.
We have spent far more on Berry with getting her from a breeder & bringing her to WA with her travel costs, her transportation to WA. All of her medical care in WA & MO etc & bringing her to WA then her adoption fee comes close to covering.
Berry has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had her around small children but we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats.
We were not there when Berry was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is.
As with all of our rescues & Berry’s friends
she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Berry potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond.
We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying.
Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Berry & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Berry who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for the special sweet little Berry.
Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately.
Berry has an adoption fee of $1250 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
