Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This helps TAILS Humane Society with pet care costs.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hey there, I'm Roman-a long, light white shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a fun-loving personality to match! I'm a goofy, happy-go-lucky boy who's ready to start the next chapter of my life with you! I've got some cool features too-just take a look at my striking blue and brown eyes! I'm a social butterfly with awesome play skills. I've done great in playgroups with other dogs, and I'm good around kids too. I even lived with two cats and got along well with them! I might be a little cautious with new dogs at first, but once I warm up, I'm all in for playtime. I've got some training under my belt-I know "sit" and "lay down," and I'm partially house-trained. I'll whine or bark to let you know when I need to go outside. I might bark at visitors, but that's just my way of saying, "Hey, who's there?" With a little more training and lots of love, I'll be the perfect addition to your family. I'm really excited to meet my forever family and start making memories together. So why not stop by and meet me? I'm ready to bring joy, laughter, and loyalty into your life!

A staff member will ask you what sort of pet you are looking for and then will provide you with information about specific pets that appear to be a good fit for your family, taking into consideration such factors as: kids, level of activity, your pet experience, other animals currently in the home, etc. You will be encouraged to interact with the pet or pets of your choice in a private visiting room. We believe that bringing a new pet into your home is an important decision so you’ll have plenty of time to make your decision without feeling rushed. Staff and volunteers will be available throughout this time to answer any questions you may have. Once you’ve made your choice, an adoption counselor will review the adoption contract with you.
You’ll pay the adoption fee. Then you’ll take your new family member home with you!
An animal can be put on hold in person at the TAILS facility during regular adoption hours.

Our mission: Saving the lives of companion animals through rescue, adoption and spay/neuter; advocating for pets in our region.
TAILS Humane Society is a limited admission animal shelter providing a safe haven for almost 2,400 animals each year. We are committed to providing each animal the time and medical care they need to have their best chance at adoption.
TAILS was established in 1999 by a group of local animal advocates dedicated to bringing a comprehensive animal shelter to DeKalb. We operated out of an old farmhouse until 2005 when we cut the ribbon on our Barber Greene facility. In 2009, we opened our low cost Spay/Neuter Clinic providing quality, affordable sterilization services to the public. We continue to grow and strengthen our programs and service as we continue to save lives.
