My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Penny is an 11-year-old Labrador Retriever mix with a gorgeous black coat and the most endearing eyes. Penny's foster mom describes her as the sweetest dog she's ever met. After spending three months together, Penny has truly blossomed into a gentle, loving companion.

Initially, Penny was quite obese at 104 lbs, but with a little time and care, she's down to 95 lbs, which has significantly helped her arthritic joints. Although she moves slowly and can't go for long walks, she absolutely adores exploring the yard. Penny's favorite activity is lounging in the grass or sunning herself on the deck, soaking in all the sights and sounds.

Penny is house-trained and very well-behaved. She sleeps soundly through the night on her cozy dog bed and doesn't need to be crated. Penny is fine being left alone in the house, but she thrives in a home where she isn't alone for long periods. She enjoys the company of adults and loves soaking up all the attention they give her.

Though Penny isn't very interested in playing with other dogs or engaging with small children, she's curious and will happily watch the activity from a distance. The only time you'll hear her bark is when she spots a squirrel or rabbit-she's quick to "warn them away but never chases after them.

Penny is a perfect fit for a quiet home with no children or other pets, especially one where the owner is home most of the time. She's a loyal, easy-going companion who will bring peace and love to her forever home. If you're looking for a calm, older dog who will be content just being by your side, Penny is your girl. Whoever adopts Penny will be incredibly lucky to have her-she's truly a special dog!
