Gigi I was surprised to hear that most humans do not know cats hate change. It's #1 on our most-hated list. We are not known for our adaptability. I started life as a stray kitten in 2018 and was soon adopted. Fast-forward six years, and I find myself back at the HSHC, feeling confused. I'm now closing in on 7-years-old, and still a petite girl at 7.3 pounds. I arrived with both ears infected and a UTI, but medication has made me feel much better. Here is why I was surrendered back to the shelter. In the last four years, I experienced many changes in my world. My owner got married = a new person to get used to. She had two more children = noise and sudden movements. We moved into a new home = 1,000s of new smells and places. All these events knocked me for a loop. I needed much more time to adjust to each of these upheavals! I will need a small space of my own where I can gradually get used to all the new people and things. The interviewer lady (IL) understood my anxiety, so she visited me several times. At first, I stayed in my Kasa. But soon, I went up to her for some pets. I rubbed up against her legs and encouraged her to keep petting me. She told me I was an affectionate little girl. And I AM a good kitty. I've gotten along with other cats and dogs. If you give me a chance to prove myself, the HSHC staff can provide you with many ways to make my transition to your home successful! 8-20-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
