Mocha I am so pleased that the interviewer lady (IL) corresponded with my foster mom. She can post an updated story about me. In July, my owner surrendered me to HSHC because I was terrified of everything! The other cat, the dog, the children, and even the adults frightened me into hiding. I am an 8-year-old female kitty who never learned to become a social cat. However, since being in my foster home, I`ve made significant progress. My foster mom says I hide in the bedroom throughout the day, but I`ll come out in the evening to eat and explore the house. I like to eat at night when everyone is asleep, but sometimes I make an exception. I enjoy dry food over wet. Since being in my foster home, I`ve learned to love belly rubs and cuddling on the sofa or in bed. However, it is only when I seek it out, not when you instigate contact. I am comfortable with humans if they don`t make too much noise. I like a calm vibe in the house. Toys are not my jam; I prefer roaming the house if it is quiet. I use my litterbox without fail! I want to be relaxed and confident with people and learn to be social and outgoing. This will take a patient person who understands my fears and will give me the time and space to settle in. A quiet home, where everyone is 10 or older, is a must. I would appreciate being the only 4-legged family member, at least for a while. The IL knows that I crave affection and attention. Now, I need to find an owner to help me become the cat I want to be. 12-2-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
