My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Almond - The Little Survivor with a Big Heart!

Almond is a 5-month-old male kitten with an incredible story of survival and a heart full of love to share. This brave little guy has faced challenges that few kittens have, but his sweet, gentle, and loving personality shines brighter than ever.

At just eight weeks old, Almond was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), a rare and once untreatable disease. Thanks to recent advancements in treatment, Almond underwent an intensive 84-day regimen of injections and pills, followed by multiple rounds of bloodwork. He completed his treatment on July 30th and is now in his observation period. In two weeks, Almond will undergo another round of lab work, and if all goes well, he’ll be ready for adoption. One final round of bloodwork will be needed four weeks after, which we will cover. While relapses are possible, Almond’s aggressive treatment has made them unlikely.

Almond is more than just a survivor—he’s an absolute sweetheart. He’s gentle, kind, and incredibly affectionate. Almond loves being around people, other cats, and even dogs. He’s hardly afraid of anything and is always ready to snuggle up for some love. His physically affectionate nature makes him a perfect companion for someone looking for a kitten who loves to be close.

Almond’s neuter is scheduled for September 30th in Denton, but it may happen sooner depending on his progress. Due to his FIP treatment, he hasn’t completed all of his vaccinations yet, but we’ll assess and cover what he needs. Almond is also FIV/FeLV tested, microchipped, fecal checked, and dewormed.

If you’re looking for a loving, resilient kitten with a big heart, Almond is the perfect choice. He’s overcome so much and is now ready to find a forever home where he can continue to thrive

More about this rescue

Rainbow Kitten Rescue is an independent rescue based out of Dallas Texas, just a passionate vet tech looking to give back to the community. Our goal is to take some of the strain off shelters and larger rescues, helping wherever we can. I advocate for spaying/neuter and will occasionally assist with TNVR but we are mainly here as a foster home to help kittens adjust to new lives eventually. We provide a dog and cat-filled home to ensure our fosters are comfortable with all types of pets. We love our adopters with canine friends!
