My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please meet Barbie, a collie who loves people. Although 3 years old, Barbie still has the energy level of a puppy and is an exuberant girl. She will play chase with the other dogs inside the house to burn off energy. Outside, she both plays and explores. When she wants to cuddle, she sometimes bounds over the back of the couch to lie next to her human. Her foster thinks Barbie would do well with someone who is active and happy to help her burn off her excess energy. Barbie is curious about their cat but hasn’t interacted when not in a crate. She has interacted well with easy going dogs not bothered by her diva ways.  Barbie knows the command to stay and has been working on other commands. When crated, Barbie plays happily with her toys.

Barbie came into our care without the knowledge of commands and consistent, loving care. She doesn’t have the polish of a dog who has had a secure home life. Barbie is, though, eager to love her forever people and work with them to learn all the skills she needs. Her joy and energy will win you over when she runs up to meet you, her forever family, for the first time.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs please go directly to www.almosthomeohio.org for an application. Once the application is submitted, our adoption team can discuss the information on the application with you to determine if one of our dogs would be a good fit for your home. Lastly, a home visit will be done either by one of our volunteers or another reputable rescue volunteer in your area. We do adopt out of state, but it is up to the adopter to come meet and take the dog home. Sound like a lot to go through for a dog? It really isn't as complicated as it seems and it's the best way to ensure a good match. Please contact adoptions@almosthomeohio.org with any additional questions you may have after reviewing the information on our website.

More about this rescue

Almost Home Dog Rescue of Ohio is made up of a small (but growing) group of enthusiastic volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of homeless dogs. Our background is with purebred collies and collie mixes but on occasion, we have other "family friendly" breeds. If you are searching for a collie, we'd like to help you find a wonderful companion that fits your family's lifestyle. All of our dogs are fully vaccinated and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. They have also been tested and are negative for heartworm and are on heartworm preventative.
