My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foxy is looking for their forever home! You can find her on ig here: walnut_and_sol

A NOTE FROM FOXY:

Hi, my name is Foxy!

If you are looking for a very special girl, look no further. While all of us dogs are special in our own way, my current foster has five of us...so when she says I stand out for my loving nature and calm, people-centered personality, she knows what she's talking about :) I'm very affectionate, great on a leash, quiet, have moderate energy, and even get along with cats...what's not to love? I also have a lovely silver coat, a happy tail, and charm for days, so I am beautiful inside and out.

Some details about me:
-I was rescued from Prince George's County Animal Shelter; it was a bad summer with overflowing shelters around the country and I was worried no one would come get me, but Laila's Legacy took me in because they recognized that I am a wonderful dog.
-I'm small and compact - a perfect size for cuddling next to you on the couch.
-I have great leash manners and love to walk beside you and rarely pull. My foster mom says that walking me is super relaxing.
-I'm already house trained. While all dogs will occasionally have an accident, I've been very good about this so far and on my walks I go potty outside right away.
-I'm also good in a crate, though my favorite place is always going to be by your side and I have lived with a crate and without.
-I'm not a barker. I make adorable small woofing and snuffling noises but overall I'm pretty quiet. Instead, I express myself with my happy tail, my bright eyes, and my wiggles.
-I have medium to low energy level for my age. I have a playful streak and I get occasional happy zoomies when I'm excited but I'm not overwhelming.
-I'm also not overly destructive. All dogs will occasionally chew, but I'm not out to wreck your house like some of my friends. I love to chew on toys but I already have a good sense for what I can and cannot have.
-I love peanut butter. I cannot overstate this enough. Frozen in a Kong toy, on a spoon, on your fingers...feed me peanut butter and I will love you forever.
-I sit for treats and take them gently.
-Like all dogs, I require a few walks a day and would love a back yard where I can roll in the grass, but what I want most is a person who will cuddle me and let me sit on the couch with them (or maybe even sleep in the bed!). If you have love to give and can take me for a spin around the block, I'd be happy in your cozy apartment (I've lived in an apartment before and I was a very good girl).
-I'm a good car rider.
-I'm friendly with most dogs I've met, though I'm not the biggest fan of teeny tiny dogs. As with any dog, proper introductions are important to ensure all of our safety and compatibility.
-I get along with cats and already lived with two feline siblings.
-I love the children I've met at events and I could do great with the right family. I'm listed as recommended for children 12 and over because like many young dogs, I can still be a bit "mouthy". This is an attention-seeking behavior that I'll probably grow out of and it's not "mean or "biting; it just means I want you to pay attention to me, and children who are experienced with dogs might be ok with this. However, it's one of my only quirks so we like to be honest about it so I can find the right forever family who understands me.
-My current foster said she could watch me for just a few days, but once I settled in, she told the rescue that I'm such a good house guest that I can stay longer. She cannot believe I haven't been adopted yet!

More about this rescue

Laila's Legacy missions is to ensure every homeless dog - including those with behavioral or physical challenges - that comes through our doors has a chance at a better life while educating the public on breed bias, individualistic training, and the importance of spay-neuter to lower the impact of returned and abandoned animals in shelters.
