Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Baxter deserves the best home!!
Poor Baxter had to spend his life with an owner who didn't care about him or his health.
He was injured on his leg, but that didn't bother his owner.
The sheriff's office asked our foster to take him and help with his injured leg. The owner never bothered to treat him and just left him outside.
Baxter came to us and received the care he needed to try to heal his leg. Unfortunately, no paw was left, and half of the leg had no skin.
He went to the vet three times to have his surgery done, the leg amputation, but his hemoglobin was dangerously low, and he wouldn't survive the surgery if it were done.
During all this time, Baxter showed what a fantastic dog he is.
At last, on the third visit, he had his surgery. And can you imagine this boy's reaction when his foster mom came to pick him up a few hours later? He walked out of the kennel, through the waiting room, peed and pooped in the vet's yard, and then went and jumped into her car with his three legs!
We think this dog is amazing!!
His foster mom says
"I’m Baxter Texas Mom.. this dog is amazing! He is completely house-trained. He knows his name. He knows the commands: sit, lay down, come, get in the car, and no leash is required. He's so smart!
Since arriving, he’s always smiling and giving great hugs.
No animal should have gone through what he had to his whole life! But not anymore.. only love from here on out! "
Baxter is eight months old, 63 lbs, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. The only thing he is missing is a family. Despite the nightmare with his previous owner and the price he had to pay, he's friendly with dogs, humans, and cats, loving and incredible all around, so we want to find him the best family possible.
If everything goes as planned, Baxter can take the transport from Texas and arrive in NJ on September 21st.
