My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Qiana is a beautiful 3-year old Dogo Argentino from California. This 77-pound lady is great with children and with other dogs, leaves cats alone, and friendly with everyone she meets (men and women). She brings confidence, amazing socialization with other dogs, and a love for receiving pets, making her an ideal brewery and errand companion. Qiana has a gentle and balanced temperament and is equally happy playing ball or just being an affectionate lap dog. She exhibits food (and sometimes toy) guarding tendencies—both things that can easily be addressed with some training—which is why we recommend her for a family with older kids who can let her enjoy a toy and meal without her needing to worry about it being taken away (as young kids sometimes tend to do!).

Before her foster home, she quickly became a favorite amongst our volunteers and other dogs. (Indeed, as a former mama, Qiana helps us work with other young dogs at Big Bones who need some friendly canine guidance with their social graces). She would make a wonderful therapy dog, as she has good energy and enthusiasm, but also the ability to focus and stay under control.

Qiana has SO much love to give and would make an amazing companion. Come meet Qiana in Fort Collins today!

Highlights: She does NOT counter surf, is NOT destructive or a big chewer, is a HUGE cuddler (for training, she is more motivated by pets than any food), is trusted to free-roam the house, is potty trained, great on leash, great with dogs, cats, and children, good with all adults.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
