Bentley is a victim of the puppy boom. Breeders got a little overzealous the last few years & now puppies are being surrendered to rescue at an alarming rate. We’ve gotten many as owner surrenders, but several, like Bentley, are coming directly from the breeder.
Bentley is TINY! 5 pounds tiny. We are open to discussing an x-pen if you do not have a fenced yard. Even with a fence, an x-pen would be a good idea to set up due to his size. A puppy his size doesn't need a big yard, he just needs constant supervision. If you have a fence, it needs to be completely secure & enclosed. If it is metal, it needs to have puppy pickets or a material that prevents tiny puppies from slipping through the slats. NEVER EVER should he be left in a yard without supervision. If you have interior stairs, please have a plan to keep him off the stairs unsupervised. Additionally, please be aware of the stair railing & the distance between the spindles.
Bentley is working on potty training. It is a process that will require commitment & patience, as he has a little puppy bladder. Bentley is doing well with his training! When a new environment is introduced, there are changes in routine, therefore he will need his family to set him up for a successful transition. Consistency & patience will be required.
We like to remind applicants that a new puppy is a lot like a toddler. They need to be supervised, and the best way to do that is to have a dedicated space set up for them. This area will be a part of the home where they can see activity & observe, but it is a place that is puppy proofed. Where they can play, lounge, or nap when their family is not directly engaging with them. Playpens, 4-squares, or x-pens are excellent tools to make this possible. They are easily mobile if you want to move them around, too.
Bringing home a new puppy is a huge responsibility that requires oodles of time! Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt an adorable puppy. Please don’t apply without speaking to your spouse/partner first. We are ready to process applications & find Bentley his forever family!
