Meet Gollum!
We estimate Gollum to be around 3 years old. He's neutered, up to date on vaccines, and this makes him completely ready for adoption! We believe Gollum to be some sort of Australian Kelpie mix, but that's just our best guess. It would certainly be interesting to see his DNA results!
Gollum is absolutely packed to the brim with energy. He's looking for an active owner who can dedicate themselves to giving him the exercise he needs each day. If you're looking for a dog who can keep up with you on your adventures, look no further! Gollum does not require a fenced yard, so long as he still receives enough exercise.
He seems to be a very loyal dog. It doesn't take long for him to warm up with new people - but be warned! He really does have a lot of energy, and it's not unheard of for him to jump. He's interested in people but also enjoys sniffing out his surroundings. He hasn't shown much interest in toys, but he loves his treats! Being strongly treat-motivated should help with training in his future home.
Gollum can struggle to contain himself and regulate his behavior when he's excited. This has mostly shown itself in the form of jumping. It doesn't seem that he's received much training (though he will sit for treats), so he can benefit from continued training after adoption.
Unfortunately Gollum's history is unknown, so we can't say how he would do around cats, dogs, or children in a home setting. We do offer a seven-day foster period with each adoption, and this provides a great opportunity to see if the adoption is a good fit for all members of the family. We also require all dogs to meet any other canines in the home prior to adoption.
Anyone interested in Gollum should come visit him at HSoP! Our dog kennels are open from 2:00-5:00pm Monday through Saturday with no appointment needed. Gollum's adoption fee is $135. He is neutered, current on vaccines, and will be microchipped with his new owner's information by the time he goes home.
Please note: You must be 18 years old or older to enter the dog kennels without a parent or guardian.
