My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Grumpy Gus is a gentle and endearing cat looking for a special forever home. Though he might start out a little shy and anxious, especially around new faces, he has a heart full of potential and love. Intruding on his personal space can increase his anxiety so it's best to give him some distance when he's not in the mood, and then let him progress at his own speed. He's never shown signs of aggression, but he does get defensive when backed into a corner, and will typically run and hide when something catches him off guard.

Gus can be a bit reserved and may take some time to warm up, particularly around strangers. But don't let that deter you-once he's settled, he'll allow you to come up and pet him, especially if you have some food or treats for him.

Gus has a charming habit of rubbing against your legs when it's mealtime, letting you know it's time for his next delicious treat. He's also a fan of mealtime companionship and will let you pet him while he enjoys his food.

When he's feeling secure, Gus will snuggle onto your lap for a few minutes of purring bliss. His soft purrs and gentle presence make these moments truly special, before he's ready for his alone time again.

Recently, Gus has been growing more confident and has started to explore his surroundings more. It's wonderful to see him discovering new nooks and crannies in his home.

Gus is quite easygoing and doesn't mind sharing his space with other felines. If you have other cats, he should fit in nicely with them.

Gus would thrive in a calm and patient home where he can gradually come out of his shell. A quiet environment with loving attention will help him feel secure and loved. He's looking for someone who appreciates the gentle process of building trust and is excited to offer him a safe and caring space.

With time, patience, and a bit of understanding, Gus will blossom into a loyal and affectionate companion. He's ready to find his forever family who will cherish his shy, yet endearing nature and enjoy watching him grow more confident every day.

If you're looking for a sweet and sensitive cat who will reward your love with quiet companionship and tender purrs, Gus might just be the perfect addition to your home. Come meet him and see if you're the one to help him shine!

More about this rescue

Tenth Life's Mission:
Giving cats the lives they deserve.
At Tenth Life, we believe that every cat, regardless of emotional or physical limitations, deserves the chance at a fulfilling and happy life.
We provide veterinary care, foster homes, and adoptive placement to stray cats and kittens, prioritizing those with special needs. We work to end unnecessary euthanasia and cat homelessness through educational outreach, community programs, and collaborative partnerships.

Only when a trusted veterinarian determines that a cat is in a state of incurable suffering, does Tenth Life relieve them of their pain through gentle and humane euthanasia. This difficult and thoughtful decision is never made in response to a lack of space, negative behaviors, or because a cat's medical needs are challenging or expensive.
