My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Butterscotch says: Hi! I'm Butterscotch, the orange kitty. I was a street kitty who got sick and decided to walk through the front door of my foster parents' house. They took me in, nursed me back to health, and loved on me.

Now I'm looking for a relationship with someone who loves lap snuggles, affection, loud kitty purrs, and someone to feed me all the food. I forgot to mention, I'm a bit of a foodie but I'll eat whatever you give to me! My friends would describe me as very friendly, curious, and adventurous.

Butterscotch has tested positive for FIV, but it is not contagious to other cats except through deep puncture wounds, like those caused in fights by two unneutered males. FIV is not transmitted by using the same food and water bowls or the same litter boxes or toys, and many of us have FIV cats happily living with non-FIV cats in our own homes. FIV positive cats, with good vet care such as you’d give to any cat, can live a normal life span.

More about this rescue

Purr Partners Feline Rescue is a 501(c)(3), no-kill, foster-based, all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in Central North Carolina — incorporated in 2009 by two friends, four cats, and no budget. These two women realized the need for a "cat only" rescue that worked with rural shelters — where cats routinely lose their lives. Purr Partners was founded to save the lives of those most in jeopardy with little hope of survival. High-kill rural shelters became the focus for Purr Partners, and that is still true today. From those humble beginnings, the rescue has grown to over a hundred active volunteers and a budget of approximately $175,000. At any given time there are between 100 and 150 cats and kittens in foster care. We have saved the lives of over 3500 cats and are still growing!
