Hello world. Our names are Russell (M) and Demi (F). We are barely over a year old, nearly did not survive as younger pups, and then given the gift of love and kindness. So, here we are today.
Our mom did not survive the cruel owner. But dad was his pride and joy, a large Belgian Malinois. Our owner did not care if we lived or died. At one point our littermates were coming down with parvo. This person did not care that our littermates were suffering. This very kind lady was persistent (all 5 feet tall). She came day after day until one day she told them she wasn't going to stand by and let us die too. Demi had all but given up. She was too weak to walk. The owner surrendering them loaded us up in her minivan.
After a lot of TLC (tender loving care), medicine, and time, we came back to life. Today (08/13/2024), we do not slow down for pictures. We slow down enough for treats, dinner, and getting into our playard. We love all sizes of other dogs, we have been exposed to cats but have too much energy and love of life to say we are cat social. We love people, sort of leash trained, crate trained and for the most part house trained. We do get in a whole lot of playing and forget to go to the door.
Our ideal home is active. Older children would be good. Have time to make us a part of your family. We want to please you. We are not a bonded pair. We would do great with or without another dog as company.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
All of our orphans are listed on the site. We are not a brick and morter facilty

Submit Application
We encourage the potential families to start the adoption process by submitting an application.
3.
Interview
We encourage all families to reach out to us from the very beginning even before they fill out an application. We believe in transparency

Home Check
We do our home visits in person or via pictures/ videos
5.
Approve Application
Only after the references have been contacted which includes a vet reference check.
6.
Sign Adoption Contract
If everything checks out and we are happy with the results, then, transport is set up, adoption contract signed.
7.
Take the Pet Home
Our families are involved in every step of the process. They understand how transport works, paperwork comng, and pickup location

My name is Carla Carlton. We (my husband and I) are retired militay. He served in the Air Force for 25 years. We have always done comunity service. So, when we got ready to retire, we found a place we wanted to live and bought a home. Well, the town we lived in has/had a high kill shelter. This broke our hearts.
Around this same time, I met a lady who fostered for Friends of Homeless Animals, RI. One day I got a call from FOHA there was a poodle in our shelter and he was on the short list. I went and pulled him. Roie (FOHA), helped set me up to foster and list our orphans to adopt with families who really wanted them. I am not sure how long ago it was, 16-18 years, I think. The rest is history. Through them and Mountain Pet Rescue, CO (and a few others in CO, UT, IA, IL, OR, CA, MS...), we have placed over 2500 dogs/ puppies and cats.
