My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jacob, a playful and friendly adult dog. He`s a social butterfly who prefers his own company at times, but don`t let his independence fool you. He loves a good game of fetch and is always ready to explore new scents and sights. He enjoys agility, car rides, fetch, toys, and walks. He is laidback, leash trained and house trained, making him an easy fit for any home.

Jacob`s friendly nature makes him a hit with children; he`s always gentle and patient with them. But because he is big and strong, he`ll need to live with kids at least 10 years old. His obedience and intelligence come through right away. He knows the sit, stay, come, no, down, and off commands. He was only given up because of his owners` divorce.

Jacob is an affectionate 80-pound lap dog. His playful spirit and independent streak make him a unique companion. His intelligence will impress you, his curiosity will charm you, and his friendly nature will win your heart. His calm nature makes him an absolute joy to be around. His deep, resonating `hound bark` may seem intimidating but he is actually harmless. It`s just his unique way of communicating his excitement and curiosity about the world around him or his attempt to gain your attention for a treat or playtime. He is friendly with dogs smaller than him, but he is not comfortable with larger or dominant dogs, so you will need to bring your dog to meet him to be sure they get along.

His quirks include talking to animals on TV, and drinking water out of the tap. For additional information, please reach out to his foster, Ram, at 281-202-9076 or CAPdogfoster@gmail.com. Adopt Jacob and let his playful spirit brighten your life. (tw, rr 11/07/2024)

More about this shelter

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
