Spotlight on Susan: The Resilient Dilute Tortoiseshell Ready for a Loving Home Introducing Susan, a beautiful dilute tortoiseshell with a calm and gentle demeanor. Susan’s journey to finding her forever home has been anything but ordinary, but her resilience and loving nature have shone through every challenge.
Susan was discovered by two compassionate Good Samaritans who saw that she was suffering and took immediate action to help. Initially, there were concerns about her condition, but our dedicated staff soon discovered that Susan`s situation was not as dire as initially feared. She had a metal wire in her intestines from ingesting it, which was successfully removed during surgery by our skilled medical team.
Despite these hardships, Susan has made a remarkable recovery. She’s now past the toughest part of her journey and is ready to find a home where she can continue to heal and thrive. Susan is a larger breed cat who, once she reaches her optimal weight, will showcase her full, majestic presence. Her dilute tortoiseshell coat adds to her elegant appearance, making her a striking companion.
Susan’s personality reflects her experience. She is incredibly calm and affectionate, and her gentle nature makes her a wonderful addition to any loving home. She deserves a family that will appreciate her serene demeanor and provide her with the care and comfort she needs to fully blossom.
If you’re looking for a resilient and loving cat who has overcome significant challenges, Susan is ready to bring her grace and warmth into your life. She’s eager to find a family who will give her the stable, loving environment she needs to feel completely at home. Embrace Susan’s quiet strength and reward her with the forever home she so richly deserves.

More about this shelter
Northshore Humane Society is one of Louisiana's largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Since 1953, we have been serving the neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore region. We are an independent, non-governmental rescue that offers veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and more. We rely solely on the support of caring people like you to fund our programs and services which profoundly benefit the animals of our community. Thank you for all of your support!
Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.
Our Vision:
To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting www.nokilladvocacycenter.org.
What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.
Veterinary Care:
Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.
Foster:
Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.
Volunteer:
Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.
Low-Cost Pet Health:
Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low-cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
