My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Daphne!

I'm a 2-year-old Black Mouth Cur and Rhodesian Ridgeback mix (the staffers at the shelter think), and I'm full of life! I've got a joyful heart, and I'm always bursting with enthusiasm-there's just so much to explore and learn! People say I'm a clever girl with a lot of potential, and I'm ready to grow with your love and guidance. Loyalty is my middle name, and I thrive on making you proud. I'm up to date on all my vaccines, I'm microchipped, and I'm spayed, so I'm all set and ready to join my forever home!

If you think I could be the one for you, don't hesitate to apply at foothillshumanesociety.org! It's quick, easy, and applying doesn't obligate you to adopt me-but it sure does help make the process smoother if you decide we're a perfect match!

You can also come meet me in person at 989 Little Mountain Rd, Columbus, NC 28722 during our open adoption hours, Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 5pm. If you have any questions about me or any of my furry friends, just reach out to my human friends at adopt@foothillshumanesociety.org or give them a call at (828) 863-4444.

I can't wait to meet you!

More about this shelter

Foothills Humane Society (FHS) is a private non-profit, 501(c)3 no-kill animal welfare organization located on eleven acres nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Polk County, North Carolina. We offer adoption-guarantee and serve all of Polk County, North Carolina. Polk County includes the incorporated towns of Columbus, Saluda and Tryon. When capacity permits, we also serve Landrum, Campobello and Gowensville in the northern Greenville and Spartanburg counties of South Carolina. FHS provides service and support for a community of ~25,000 people and ~1,600 animals annually.

FHS is supported by donations, grants, adoption fees, fundraisers and a contract with Polk County Animal Control.

Our Mission is to shelter and care for stray and surrendered companion animals within our community; prevent cruelty to animals; reunite lost animals with their owners; adopt animals to qualified homes or place them with reputable rescue organizations; and educate the public about responsible animal ownership and population control.
