Papi Prosecco came to us from the San Diego Humane Society on August 12th. He is 8 years old, weighs just under 10 lbs., and is so sweet. He can be shy initiallly but warms up quickly.
To give Papi Prosecco one-on-one time, a volunteer took him on an outing to a nearby park and coffee shop for a pup cup. Afterwards, she shared:
"Papi allowed me to carry him in areas where the ground was too hot, but I could tell that being carried isn't his favorite mode of transportation. He prefers to walk and can walk well. He isn't bitey at all, just a bit squirmy when being picked up.
Papi had a lot of fun laying on the blanket at the park and eating snacks that I brought. He was very alert and always kept his ears or eyes on other people at the park. Then, someone on a motorcycle made some loud noises and a car backfired, which caused him to lose all of his calmness and tuck his tail and pace a bit. After about 5-10 minutes he calmed back down, then napped. We saw two big dogs while out and Papi never made a peep, just kept his eyes on them just as he did with people.
Papi loves pup cups and treats and is very gentle. He is also good at meeting people as long as they approach slowly and let him come the last few inches to them. He even gave the woman working at Cattle Dog Cafe, kisses. He did so well inside the cafe and didn't mark anything. He also laid down while I ordered and made himself at home.
Papi is a really sweet dog and loves getting pets and scratches. He also loves napping at the park and would probably love to lay beside you on the couch. He would be an excellent coffee and lunch date, too. He's also really soft!"
Papi Prosecco is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we can learn what he is like in a home environment. His Fling Mom shared a first update:
"10 days in with Papi Prosecco, and he gets sweeter by the day! No accidents or separation anxiety, and I've still never heard him bark, but last night, he gave one small yelp of excitement when I got home and jumped on my legs.
Papi loves his walks and a little playtime with the neighborhood dogs each evening. He also enjoys walking on the beach, but was a little unsure walking on super wet sand as you can see by his toes. At the end of the day, he lets me snuggle with him for a few minutes, gives kisses, then goes back to his bed. He is an absolute angel!"
