You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

All Best Friend Pet Adoption dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. The link to our application is    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.    It can also be found at bfpa.org.

FOSTER COMMENTS:

Kala is such a sweet puppy who was born on 6/1/24.  She is a cuddly, friendly puppy.  Her momma, Tiki, is a 3 year old 30 lb rat terrier mix. We feel that Kala will be larger and probably at least 50 lbs when full grown.  Her Dad may have been a lab?

Kala is crate trained and stays in her crate overnight and when we leave the house without any issues.  She is a typical puppy learning lots of new skills.  We are working on potty training and she seems to be learning quickly. She has patterns of behavior that indicate she needs to go out so we are confident she can be housebroken with relative ease.

We have a fenced backyard so we have not started training her on a leash.  I think Kala would be fine with either multiple walks or just playing in a yard in her forever home.

Kala is very friendly with everyone she meets, young and old.   She also gets along great with other dogs. She loves to play with our three dogs.  We don’t have a cat so not sure how she would do with one in the house.

I think Kala would be ok living in an apartment as she is quiet and does not bark when left alone.  She would also be ok if her family worked out of the house and she was left alone or with another dog.

Kala is very friendly and loves to play with both dogs and humans of all ages. When she is not being her playful active self, she loves to take naps with you and snuggle. She has been a joy and the other dogs have enjoyed having a new playmate.

Kala is packing up her toys already and is getting ready for her next adventure in life!   If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who's always up for fun, Kala might just be the pup for you! â¤ï¸

EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Kala's  mother (Tiki) was rescued from a shelter and we didn't know she was pregnant. Her foster came home and discovered Tiki had a litter of four sweet girls waiting for her.  What a surprise! Maybe you can open your home for one of these lucky puppies. They love dogs and all people.

Puppies may nibble, bite and mouth so may not be appropriate for very young children unless they have had experience around dogs/puppies.    Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.

Applicants for puppies should ideally live 30 minutes from Cary NC (no further than one hour) since Kala must receive medical care in the Cary area. Best Friend Pet Adoption will cover all medical cost for Kala until she is spayed when she is 6 months old.  Kala can start a trial adoption now and the adoption will be finalized after she is spayed.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptions require submission of an application which is processed and and must be approved by our adoption coordinator. Potential adopters then take the animal on a trial (minimum of 2 weeks) before the adoption is finalized. This helps to ensure a good fit between the adopting family and the animal. All animals must be up to date on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped before the adoption can be finalized. Adoption fee is $225 for dogs, $115 for cats.

More about this rescue

Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA) is a no-kill animal rescue organization based in central North Carolina. BFPA has no building, office, or shelter. We are an all-foster network committed to helping dogs and cats in need of homes. Individual donations are our most important source of income as we receive no public funding.

Our purpose is to provide medical assistance, foster homes, and adoption services to previously lost, abandoned, abused, or neglected animals in Wake County, NC and the surrounding counties. Our mission is to educate this disposable society in which we live that every life should be valued and cherished and is directly linked to human responsibility and commitment.

Almost all the animals we rescue require immediate medical attention. BFPA never turns away or euthanizes an animal because of the expense involved in returning them to good health. All our rescued animals are evaluated for temperament, examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, microchipped (if possible) and sterilized, if age appropriate. Cats and dogs receive monthly flea/tick preventative and dogs also receive monthly heartworm preventative.

The most important ingredients we provide to these animals are loving care and a safe haven -- something most of them have never experienced. These cats and dogs live in volunteer foster homes until we find them a loving permanent home, however long it takes. We match these precious beings to a single, couple or family who understand cats and dogs should be full participating members of the family. Our hope is that these animals never have to experience being unloved again.

Since our beginning, BFPA has rescued and placed thousands of cats and dogs into their forever homes.

BFPA was created in 1998 by two Raleigh-area women who had volunteered with other established rescues in the Triangle. Their dedication to help homeless dogs and cats has led to an organization that has grown to over 225 volunteers strong.

BFPA received 501(c)(3) status in 1999.
