Meet one of the Hawaiian Litter puppies....Lani. She is such a sweet puppy who was born on 6/1/24. Her momma, Tiki, is a 3 year old 30 lb rat terrier mix. We feel that Lani will be larger and probably at least 50 lbs when full grown.
Lani is crate trained. She sleeps in the crate at night and is crated when we leave the home. She quiets down well unless she can hear activity in the rest of the house. Piano music seems to quiet her and put her to sleep.
Lani is working on house training. She is doing well but still needs to be taken outside often. If someone works away from the house, they would need to have a plan to allow for potty breaks. She has a wonderful temperament and rests well during the day.
She is extremely friendly and loves meeting people. She enjoys sitting on laps. Lani enjoys playing with our 4yo dog. She can be very rambunctious (she is a puppy!) but also shares toys very well.
Lani does very well with older children but may be too active for very young children who are not used to puppy behavior. Puppies may nibble, bite and mouth so may not be appropriate for very young children unless they have had experience around dogs/puppies.
She is vocal when she wants attention so may not be appropriate for living in an apartment and being left alone for long periods of time. She has a lot of energy. If she doesn't have her own yard to run around it, she will need several walks a day in additional to potty breaks. Lani would love another dog in the home but would also be fine as a solo dog if given a lot of attention, playtime and appropriate exercise. Puppies have a lot of energy:-)
Lani is a friendly, adorable dog who will be a great companion. We feel she will be the kind of dog that likes to go on runs when she gets old enough. She will need chew toys, as she loves the ones she has in her foster home. We love fostering her and it will be very hard to let her go. She has a way of getting into your heart. Could she get into YOUR heart? Please consider giving Lani the loving home she deserves.
EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Lani's mother (Tiki) was rescued from a shelter and we didn't know she was pregnant. Her foster came home and discovered she had a litter of four sweet girls waiting for her. What a surprise! Maybe you can open your home for one of these lucky puppies. They love dogs and all people.

Applicants for puppies should live 30-60 minutes from Cary NC (no further than one hour) since Lani must receive additional medical care in the Cary area. Best Friend Pet Adoption will cover all medical cost for Lani until she is spayed when she is 6 months old.
