Approximate DOB 8/1/2023

Approximate Adult Size - He came in at about 40 lbs however he is now up to 65 lbs and looks amazing!!!

History- Ended up at a local shelter twice. This last time he was severely underweight when he was picked up. He was very anxious in the kennels and would not calm down and lost even more weight due to the stress. Luckily a volunteer noticed how thin he was getting and posted he needed out asap. We talked to staff and they said he was just so nervous in the kennels he couldn't hold weight despite getting 3 feedings a day. So we went and picked him up. He slept the first few days after getting here.

Temperament- Super sweet, very smart, and loves attention. He is an amazing boy with a perfect temperament. Very loyal - he is one of those dogs that just wants to be with his loved one at all times. He follows me everywhere.

Energy Level- High energy. Loves fetch and playing chase with the other dogs.

Dogs/Cats- He is doing so good with the other dogs here and introduces easily. He is learning to share his toys but still gets upset sometimes. He has done so well though - his best friend is Vegas however if I am out with them he stays with me instead. He acts aggressive at the cats when he is in his crate but isn't quite sure what to think when they are both loose together - he's almost too curious but just stands there in shock watching them. I would not trust him though not to chase them if they ran.

Housetrained- Crate and house trained as well as uses a dog door perfectly. He is one of the easiest dogs ever. Just such a good boy.

Bowser is such an amazing young boy. He is super loyal and just wants to be with me all the time. He will make an amazing addition to any family wanting a dog with an amazing personality. He is gentle with my grandkids, meets other dogs easily, well behaved just so so good. If I did not have a personal dog he would definitely be staying. He is just awesome I cannot say enough good things about this guy - he is absolutely phenomenal.

Adoption fee $300 includes neuter, age appropriate vaccinations (4 for puppies), deworming, microchip, rabies, collar and leash, training information, and all the support you need.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting from us but have questions please feel free to e-mail us at adopt@almosthomenm.org

In order to start the application process you must send us an e-mail request for an application. We will e-mail it to you as soon as possible. Then just fill it out and send it back via e-mail. Once we receive it then we can schedule an appointment for you to come out and meet the animals.

We are not an open to the public facility with specific hours of operation. We are a foster home and therefore require an application submitted before an appointment can be made and directions given out.

If you would like to adopt from out of state then you must be willing to come out to meet and adopt the pet you are interested in.. We do not ship pets nor will we meet someone somewhere.. We want adopters to come out and spend at least an hour with this pet in their environment before adopting just to ensure there is a connection. We would hate for the adoption to not work and be so far away.

More about this rescue

We are a newly formed rescue in Peralta, NM. We are still very small and currently in process of getting our 501c3 tax exempt status. It is mainly just myself, my two daughters and a small group of volunteers. We only take in animals from shelters who are scheduled to be put down. All animals are housed in my home and on my property. We started this rescue due to the simple fact that there are so many wonderful dogs dying everyday at the shelters because there just isn't enough room.We do not discriminate against any breed. Every dog has the potential to be a great family pet, working dog, or therapy dog- just as every dog has the potential to become a "dangerous dog" due to the simple fact that they all (or most anyway) have teeth and can bite when provoked or trained to obey their owners commands.
We do it for the love of the animals and the need to find forever homes for the ones impounded due to no fault of their own.
