My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A BLIND & MOSTLY DEAF SWEET FELLOW:  Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 7 lbs.

Hi, my name is Chipper!  I lived a good life once my mom rescued me.  She is an amazing animal lover, advocate and rescuer!  In fact, my mom helped Mostly Mutts secure their current rescue building so that hundreds of pets could be saved every year!  Now she’s in memory care and needs our help in finding her beloved pets new homes. I’m one of them and I’m looking for an amazing family (like my mom has been) to love and care for me for the rest of my life. I’m a special needs guy looking for a special family!  I’m in a great foster home until I can find my new family.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I lived with several other dogs in my former home and there are dogs in my foster home too.  I am not looking for a playmate and I usually just walk away from other dogs.  So, if you have a dog or dogs that won’t want to play with me, we could be a good fit and let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I  met kids in my foster home and we think that older gentle kids who understand that I’m blind and only hear loud noises would be best for me, so if you have kids like this who would like to gently cuddle with me, let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  When I first came to Mostly Mutts, I was confused, and my sense of time was off due to being blind and mostly deaf (I only hear loud noises).  I circled a lot the first couple of days, barked at the ceiling and had my days and nights mixed up which can happen with dogs like me.  So, I started an anxiety medication and most of that has stopped now, though I probably shouldn’t live in an apartment/condo type home in case there is a longer adjustment period in my new home.  I’m also at the beginning of dementia, so I’m clearly looking for a special family to adopt and care for me.  My foster says that I don’t ask for much, but I do enjoy sitting and cuddling up with you and would love a person or family that just wants to hang out with and love and be loved by me.  They say that I’m sweet and they will be happy to talk to you about me.  I’ll also need a family that will keep me safe due to my disabilities. / Energy level: 1-3.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I don’t know any commands but I’m skilled at being adorable. / My foster keeps me in the kitchen when they are away and at nighttime and I’m fine with this set up. / I use a pee pad once I know where it is, but I have to be honest with you and say that since I’m blind I do pee wherever I am and I do mark, so during the day I wear a belly band to help with this and in the morning, my foster just does a quick clean up of any accidents I had overnight.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  In my foster home I love soft beds and cuddling with people. I also like being brushed which is good since I have longer fur. / I do not like being restrained for nail trims, so my foster just cut a few at a time and I did better with that. I would not want to live in a busy type of household and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention.

• MEDICAL:  I'm neutered, and I easily take my anxiety medications twice a day mixed with my food. I do have moderate tartar on some of my teeth, but we don’t want to put me under anesthesia, so perhaps you can use an over-the-counter dental treatment for me.

If you are a special person or family that likes to help dogs live out their best life, come and meet me as I’m looking for an angel.  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.

Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse

Please visit our website, www.mostlymutts.org for additional information about adopting a new best friend!
