Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Dr. Pepper is now available! She is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu who were surrendered by a breeder.
Dr. Pepper is a shy 3yo little girl. Despite her living conditions before arriving, she's sweet as can be. She has become curious but startles very easily. The sofa is her current safe space, and she spends a lot of time there.
Dr. Pepper is a "velcro" dog and does not like to be alone. She does get a bit anxious and shakes if her person leaves her sight. She does not like being on a leash, but when taken out, she quickly does her business and heads for the door. For the most part, she is doing very well with housebreaking and has only had a few accidents.
Given how easy Dr. Pepper startles a quieter home with no young children would be best. She would do O.K. in a home with another laid-back dog her size to show her how to be a dog.
She has suffered significant hair loss due to flea infestation. While a lot of her hair has started growing back and she looks much better, we can not guarantee that it all will. But we think she looks cute just like she is.
Dr. Pepper has been spayed, is up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped and HW negative. We know the right home is out there for this young, sweet girl.
If you are interested in meeting her our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. She is located in Williamsburg.

More about this rescue
Homes Fur Hounds Inc. was formed to help the overwhelming number of animals that are abandoned, surrendered to county agencies and simply unwanted. These animals are facing death due to no fault of their own other than not being convenient. Our mission is to help stop the unnecessary killing of animals. Thousands of animals are put to sleep (some more humanely than others) every day. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, heartworm preventive and general health care. We also strive to help owners who are experiencing difficulties with their pet find solutions to their problems. By helping them find solutions we keep the animals out of the county pounds and from being abandoned. It is our policy to adopt out only healthy dogs and to do our best to know and understand what type of home the dog needs. We are always striving to find that “forever home” for the animals.
