Sprite is now available! She is one of the 60 Shih-Tzu who were surrendered by a breeder.
She is a shy 6yo little girl. Despite her living conditions before arriving, she's sweet as can be. She has become curious but is still skittish and startles very easily. Surprisingly she is really good with the younger child in the house. She would probably do OK with well-behaved, somewhat calm children. Does not do well with sudden movements or noises
She was a little bit shy around the other dogs in the home when she arrived but is now getting along with dogs and cats of all sizes, including the foster family's big dog!
She is eats well… Goes in her crate during the day when no one is home but prefers to cuddle at night. She always wants to be with her favorite people. She loves to give kisses or nose touches and always wants to know where everyone is.
She is not 100% housebroken yet and is still learning to walk on a leash.
She actually lost the most hair of the dogs we took in so her hair still looks a little sparse, but it is growing back and she is starting to look very cute.

We require an application. Once the application is received we check personal and vet references and if renting, we verify with leasing company that pets are allowed. If that is approved, we set up a meeting with the pet. We then perform a home check. If the person wants to adopt, we require a contract and our adoption fee is $300.00. Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, HW tested, up to date on shots and micro-chipped.

Homes Fur Hounds Inc. was formed to help the overwhelming number of animals that are abandoned, surrendered to county agencies and simply unwanted. These animals are facing death due to no fault of their own other than not being convenient. Our mission is to help stop the unnecessary killing of animals. Thousands of animals are put to sleep (some more humanely than others) every day. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, heartworm preventive and general health care. We also strive to help owners who are experiencing difficulties with their pet find solutions to their problems. By helping them find solutions we keep the animals out of the county pounds and from being abandoned.
