Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Chico!
Chico is a 6-7 year old little guy who was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him.
Chico is a reserved fellow until he decides that he trusts you. He is fairly independent. He wouldn't do well with young children. He is happy sleeping in his favorite bed just knowing you are around.
Chico does well with other dogs and cats.
Chico does not care for leash walking but can be trained. He tolerates car rides OK. He is doing well with re-housebreaking as long as he’s let out every five hours or so.
Chico prefers soft food. He enjoys Pepperoni treats!
Chico had a bad habit in his previous home of barking and running after people who are leaving. He has not done this in his foster home.
Chico is not crate trained as he behaves well in the home. He has ridden in a crate in the car and goes fine.
Chico loves to sleep deep under the bed covers. He will sleep out on the sofa as well.
Chico is a quiet fellow and will make an excellent chill companion!
Chico is neutered, HW negative, vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting him our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Additional adoption info
We require an application. Once the application is received we check personal and vet references and if renting, we verify with leasing company that pets are allowed. If that is approved, we set up a meeting with the pet. We then perform a home check. If the person wants to adopt, we require a contract and our adoption fee is $300.00. Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, HW tested, up to date on shots and micro-chipped.

More about this rescue
Homes Fur Hounds Inc. was formed to help the overwhelming number of animals that are abandoned, surrendered to county agencies and simply unwanted. These animals are facing death due to no fault of their own other than not being convenient. Our mission is to help stop the unnecessary killing of animals. Thousands of animals are put to sleep (some more humanely than others) every day. We strive to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, heartworm preventive and general health care. We also strive to help owners who are experiencing difficulties with their pet find solutions to their problems. By helping them find solutions we keep the animals out of the county pounds and from being abandoned. It is our policy to adopt out only healthy dogs and to do our best to know and understand what type of home the dog needs. We are always striving to find that “forever home” for the animals.
