Prior to coming into the shelter North was picked up as a stray. It's clear that wherever North was before being a stray, he was taught basic commands such as sit, stay, shake, and heel; these are rusty now due to his trauma of apparently being abandoned and being in a shelter waiting for a forever home. He is not housetrained but has responded well to efforts to teach him. North will go into his kennel on his own when directed and sleeps through the night without whining or barking. He loves to play catch, fetch, chase, and tug-o-war. He was taught to be gentle even in play and it is apparent he was around children due to being so gentle but this is not known for sure. He prefers to have a fenced in yard (or a country or farm property) where he can run, play, and get his energy out. Once establishing a connection he is much improved on his leash skills. Indoors he is an incredible dog, gentle, eats well, listens, cuddles, and is very affectionate.
