**Meet Rita: A Special Pup with a Heart Full of Love**
Rita is a brave little mixed-breed pup, about 9 months old, and although she may be small at just 25 lbs, she has an enormous heart. Her journey hasn't been easy; somewhere along the way, Rita lost the use of her back legs. She's gaining confidence and getting more comfortable scooting around and trying to stand, but she still loves her downtime. Her favorite thing is to relax on a cozy bed, snuggling with her foster siblings or chewing on some toys.
Despite her challenges, Rita has a bright and resilient spirit. She has full control of her bathroom functions and patiently waits to be taken outside using a sling. Her gentle nature and determination make her a true inspiration. Rita has a few issues with her back. She has a bulge in her upper spine, between her shoulders, which is believed to be either a birth defect or the unfortunate outcome of being kept in a crate that was too small. This bulge has improved with therapy and anti-inflammatory medication. Additionally, Rita has a break in her lower back. The vet suspects she may have been stepped on, given the nature of the injury. While surgery isn't an option, Rita's future includes therapy and a wheelchair to help her live her best life.
Rita is housetrained and crate trained. She is super quiet, even having just a whisper of a bark when she's playing with her dog friends. Rita gets along well with other dogs and, being a puppy, she loves to play.
We know that Rita's road ahead won't be without challenges, but what matters most is giving her the love and care she deserves. She's looking for a forever family who can offer her just that-a chance to thrive in a home full of love, patience, and understanding. If you're ready to open your heart to a special soul like Rita, she'll reward you with endless affection and the kind of companionship that only a pup with her unique spirit can offer.

Please visit www.hopeanimals.org/adopt to learn more about our adoption process and to complete an adoption application.
Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter*, microchipping, up-to-date vaccinations, and current heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.
*If pet is not old enough to be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, a $50.00 credit will be paid to your vet at the time of surgery.
We require a veterinary reference for current pet owners, and pets must be up to date on vaccines and heartworm preventative. We meet potential adopters in their homes and introduce the pets to the family's current pets to see if it is a good match. A copy of our adoption contract can be requested via email.
